A trend I have been seeing a lot within Google is social sites and their results sometimes ranking above other factual results like wikipedia and factual BASED relevant authority sites. I don’t necessarily think that wikipedia is 100% factually based but it is one of the largest and most trafficked sites on the web today with literally thousands of top rankings pages within the search engines. However there is a definite shift starting to emerge.

I was recently doing some social bookmarking and was thinking .. dang this is time consuming.. At hybridsem we do seo social bookmarking by hand for many reasons and like any internet marketer, being able to do this efficiently is key. So I set myself on a quest to find some help. (more…)

Personally I have been covering social media sites for a while. I started making a list of these sites and posting them however they are seperated into different posts which is kinda rough for me so I wanted to create a master list I can share with the blogsphere. New developments in social media recently have been made by 97th floor. In collaboration with Cameron Olthuis and modern blue design. This tool was designed with intentions to help social marketers find stories that have not been submitted to social sites yet in order to be the first to submit them. Also there are some other benefits of the tool like being able to see how many votes a certain story has across 4 major networks.

In my quest to review a slew of social networking sites, surely I can’t ignore Sphinn, which focuses on a niche after my own heart.

The birth child of Danny Sullivan and Search Engine Land, it was built as a social site specifically for Search & Internet Marketing Professionals. Very fitting for a crowd that tends to blog just as much on Beer Bongs and Lunch Boxes at industry conferences as they do the sessions. (more…)
