Discovery Channel Selling Hidden links?

I was working at an old job one day and I remember doing some backlink research on a competitor. I noticed a very strange backlink that just boggled my mind. It seemed that there was a backlink on a powerful site called discovery that was hidden. Recently I decided to pull this up again out of curiosity and I noticed it was still like this.

Calling out an unethical link development tactic | .gov link acquisition

Amazing technique to get FREE .edu backlinks that is 100% ethical

One of the most interesting link development techniques unveiled itself to me today. Many link developers and SEOs might be a lil upset at me that such a great technique is not being used privatly for my own gain but in my mind I fell I should share this with the SEO community as I really doubte anyone else knows about this.
