There has been a lot of talk recently about all the different social networking sites out there today. Many people feel there should be one social site that houses all of the others within it. Google has heard our concerns and recently launched open social api.

On 11/1/2007 about 30 developers gathered around to announce the opening on open social. They kicked it off with a video course called campfire one. Google also released a new blog called open social api blog. So far there are over 70 partners involved in this open social api. See the partners list here.

Campfire one is a series of 30 developers in google in an open collaborative forum to help push the social community and social web further. I really respect google for taking the first step here and opening up many relationships in order to make the web better. Definatly a push for web 3.0 ;-). I am really interested in hearing what people think about open social and the fact that google is heading this up.
