hybrid.jpgIn this photoshop lesson I will show you how to create text that has a reflection of itself. This lesson can also be used for images of different types. These type of images are all over the web nowadays and if you want to make your website look modern you will probably want to add an image or two like this to your site. I will be using Adobe Photoshop CS2…

1. I will be building off of a previous lesson, so start there and then proceed on this one. Adding a Drop Shadow on Text in Photoshop.

2. After you create the text with a drop shadow add a Bevel and Emboss with a Depth of 200%. This option is found under Layer > Layer Style > Bevel and Emboss. On that same dialog box check off Gradient Overlay and make sure the gradient is Forground to Transparent.

3. Now go to Layer > Duplicate Layer. This will make an exact copy of the text. Next, flip the new layer by going to Edit > Transform > Flip Vertical. Select the Move Tool (press the letter v as a shortcut) and move the flipped text to the bottom of the original text. It should look something like this:

4. On the Layers Window, change the Opacity of the flipped text layer to 50%. Also, you might want to move the original layer to the top (on the Layers Window drag it and drop it on top of the other layer).

5. At this point you may be satisfied with the look of your text and want to stop. I’m going to do one more thing. Go to Edit > Transform > Skew. Drag the lower right hand corner over to the right a bit until it looks good, then press enter on the keyboard. Finally, select the Move Tool (press the letter v as a shortcut) and move the text over to the left so that it matches up with the text above.
